Taupo: een dagje relaxen aan Lake Taupo

Laatst was Rick een weekje over. Hij had een werkgerelateerd project in Australië en kon daarna dus mooi even doorvliegen naar Auckland. Uiteraard hebben we samen weer een paar plekken bezocht, waarvan Taupo er een was.

Taupo is een levendig plaatsje in het midden van het Noordereiland. Met de Intercity bus was het makkelijk om hier te komen. We hadden -helaas- maar een dagje in Taupo en die hebben we vooral besteed aan relaxen. De meeste mensen komen hier voor de Tongariro Crossing, maar omdat Rick ziek was en ik ziek begon te worden hebben we het gewoon bij een middagje chillen gehouden.

Zo hebben we in de middag aan Lake Taupo gelegen, een heel mooi en helder meer. Het is zo groot, dat je de overkant niet altijd kunt zien. Rick en ik zijn er beiden nog even in geweest, al bleek dit uiteindelijk niet zo bevorderlijk te zijn voor onze gezondheid, oeps!

Anyway, zoveel hebben we hier dus niet gedaan, maar ik weet wel dat we hier in de toekomst graag eens terug willen komen (en dan gaan we uiteraard ook de Tongariro Crossing doen).

We verbleven trouwens in Bob’s Hostel. Niet een heel bijzonder hostel, maar het had wel een fijn en groot dakterras én het hostel zat in een uitgaansstraatje. Dat was dan wel weer leuk.
